“clothing and accessories for our everyday adventures and momentous occasions.”

Amy Finegold:

Ever since I was young, I experienced a rush of adrenaline when stepping into a clothing store. My passion for retail, clothing, and sales led me to choose it as a career path while studying French and Art History at Tufts University. I began as a junior in college at the Gap, where all good sales associates learn to fold. After graduating, I chose to work at specialty boutiques that would expose me to the different aspects of sales, buying, and owning a small business. From Jasmine Sola, to Serenella, Country Road, Louis Boston, and Taste Boutique, I honed my skills and learned from some of the most respected owners and managers in the business.

When I married my husband in 2002, I left Newbury Street behind to settle into the suburb of his hometown of Andover, MA. There I found a welcoming community, but a lack of shopping opportunities. My husband encouraged me to act on my dreams, and I opened dresscode in September of 2004. That was a busy and exciting time, as our first daughter, Ava, had been born the year before. Ella was born in 2005, and Max was born a good deal later in 2012. Throughout the years, we have built a loyal clientele, won numerous awards, and expanded the space of our store.

Today we continue to bring in unique, yet classic and quality designers that stand the test of time. We love to personally style each of our customers. dresscode is an experience, not just a store.

Q:  How would you define your style?
A:  I would define my style as urban casual. I love a good t-shirt and ripped jeans and long black sweater mixed with heeled booties or Converse. I am all about comfort during the day, but for a night out out might switch to a sleeker look with a dress and over the knee boots!
Q:  Item of clothing you can’t live without?
A:  My Amo ripped jeans. They are so comfortable and can be dressed up or dressed down. Nothing better than the perfect pair of jeans!
Q:  Go-to accessory?
A:  A choker! I like to layer it with the longer necklace I always wear or with other chokers. I think they complete any outfit with any neckline.
Q:  Guilty pleasure?
A:  The Kardashians.  Much of my style inspiration comes from them, but the show IS sensationalized, so I try not to watch it, but who doesn’t love a good bit of reality TV?
Q:  What prepared you to be a personal stylist at dresscode?
A:  I have always loved fashion.  From watching my mother get glammed up for her Saturday night date night with my father, to helping my style-challenged sister - I always wanted to be involved. It was such a joy to help my mother pick out her dress for those date nights. She is my true style inspiration.
Q:  Little known fact about you?
A:  I am double-jointed in my left thumb!
Q:  Nickname growing up?
A:  My Mom and Dad used to call me Nomi. It has actually carried over, and most of my close friends and their children call me Nomi now!
